Welcome to Dragging Main, something we all used to do, the blog for anyone interested in stories of past Algona and Garrigan alumni. This blog replaces the previous website known as AHS Class of 1972 which is now a defunct website due to software updates that no longer allowed this webmaster to edit or update entries. Please enjoy this blog as it grows, and do send any news, tidbits or photos to me for posting here for all.... something you want to share? Please send it my way via my e-mail located on my profile page below. Thanks! P.S. Leave a comment after any post dog gone it!

AHS Still With It

When I attended Algona High one of the things I was most proud of was that the school seemed to be on top of things supplying us with only the best materials, instructors and building in order to make us all the best achievers possible.

Today I stopped by their webpage and found this photo. Please notice that the students are sitting in a room filled with Apple brand computers. YAY AHS! Still on the cutting edge it seems.

Aloha!

Say "HELLO" to Mark Elbert as he sips a bit in Hawaii.

Mark is a pilot in Macau, China and gets back to the States every month or so. He enjoys a stopover in Hawaii from time to time as well. Mark's a dad and a grandpa and enjoys spending off time with his grandson whenever possible.

Mark can be found on Facebook should you wish to know more.

Generations

I found a link to a lovely story about two men. They are the father and the nephew of Kolleen King Hill who was a '72 graduate of AHS and now resides in Oklahoma.

For more on the story of these two ex-military men please read this article from the Algona Upper Des Moines. We salute each of these men.

October Weather

When it rains it pours, unless of course if you live in Colorado Springs where Debbie Utt Johnson along with grandchildren Amanda and Dustin took a bit of a beating in the October SNOW! That's right, I said October SNOW! Appears the winds that came along with it were attempting to blow the three of them away. I am happy to say that all survived their first blizzard of 2009. Time to plan a trip to Tahiti, Debra? LOL

Happy Birthday Barb!

Would everyone please wish Barb Harris Burns a Happy Birthday on Monday the 2nd. Look, she even has the cake to prove it's HER day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BARB! We all love ya and wish you all the best.

The Fisherman

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and so in order to keep this blog rolling along I steal photos. Well, at least I admit it and don't flee the country!

This fine young gentleman in this swiped photo is Mr. Dick Manske of AHS class of '72.

But then you all knew that didn't you? Because just like the rest of us he hasn't changed one tiny bit. Oh, and he's a fisherman and that's all I know about him so don't ask for additional information okay?

Want to know more? He's on Facebook so go friend him and I bet he'll tell you everything you want to know and more. Right Dick??

Header Identities

Alrighty then. Let's name the folks in the header on this page. They are as follows from the upper left corner:

John Skilling '72, Diane Poppen '72, Scott Buchanan '72, Barb Harris '72, Charlene Klein '72

Bottom row left to right:

John Thompson '70, Judy Hall '73, Paula Shaw '73, Linda Hauser '72, Sue Walker '72, Debbie Utt '72.

I've been known to change Headers often on my own personal blog so this one may rotate a few photos from time to time as well so don't get too comfortable with this look... okie dokie?
